What is THE Brisbane Channel?

THE Brisbane Channel is an independent media platform dedicated to helping people better understand, appreciate and engage with life in Greater Brisbane.

The channel explores the stories shaping Brisbane and its surrounding communities – from major infrastructure projects and housing developments to local events, public transport, lifestyle stories and the issues that matter most to residents.

Since launching, THE Brisbane Channel has grown into a trusted source of information for tens of thousands of people across the region, reaching audiences through regular video updates, in-depth feature pieces, interviews and podcast conversations.

Our approach

THE Brisbane Channel aims to present information in a way that is evidence-based, balanced and accessible.

Where possible, reporting draws on original sources, publicly available documents, interviews, official statements and data. Different perspectives are considered, particularly on complex or contentious issues affecting the community.

When opinion is shared, it is clearly identified as such.

The goal isn't to tell people what to think.

It's to provide the information and context needed for them to make up their own minds.

More than a YouTube channel

While many people first discover THE Brisbane Channel through YouTube, this platform is intended to be much more than that.

This website exists to bring together videos, podcasts, community contributions and practical resources for people living in, moving to, or simply interested in Greater Brisbane.

Over time, the vision is to create a space that reflects the city itself: informed, welcoming, curious and connected.

Because Brisbane's story belongs to all of us.

I'd love to hear from you.

THE Brisbane Channel is shaped not only by the stories covered, but by the people who watch, listen and engage with them.

Thanks for being part of the journey.

Why THE Brisbane Channel exists

I moved to Brisbane in 2014.

Like many people arriving from elsewhere, I didn't know a great deal about the city beyond the stereotypes. In fact, if I'm honest, I wasn't particularly excited about living here.

That changed.

As I explored Greater Brisbane, I discovered a region full of fascinating stories, passionate communities, ambitious ideas and people working hard to shape its future. I also realised there wasn't always an easy way for everyday residents to keep up with what was happening around them.

THE Brisbane Channel was born out of a simple idea:

What if there was a place dedicated to helping people understand Brisbane a little better?

Not just the headlines, but the context behind them.

Not just the challenges, but also the opportunities.

Not just the city itself, but the wider Greater Brisbane region that millions of people call home.
